I'm back!

I'm back from my mini-hiatus to Seattle for my sister's wedding. Lately I've spent quite a bit of time on other blogspot fashion blogs getting inspired and I've decided that my blog here will basically just be me sharing my new treasures, no fashion advice, nothing like that. I'm just not cut out for that and with being a full time student, I'd really rather not write extensively in my free time. I'd rather show off my vintage finds and hear what others think. Now that that's out of the way, onto new purchases and a little wedding fashion.

First off, wedding fashion. My older sister Alexa got married to her boyfriend of 5 years. It was a wonderful 5 days in Seattle (Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island to be exact). Seattle is gorgeous, eco-conscious, has great food, friendly people, decent drivers, and cool little neighborhoods all over. Not to mention Red Light Vintage. Everytime I visit my sis, I make sure I hit either the U-District or Capitol Hill location. Anyway, I was my sister's maid-of-honor and while I'm sure she wouldn't have gone for vintage bridesmaid dresses, she did nicely allow me to select my own dress style (and everyone else's too, ha!).

Some more Seattle fashion... I wasn't able to make much effort with anything though. I was so incredibly busy rushing around helping out with wedding things that I barely got a chance to sit down.

My sis and I. This skirt was originally to mid-calf. I got it at the St. Vincent De Paul thrift store in Orange for $2. I figured it if I hemmed it up high enough, it might kind of look like an American Apparel skirt. I like the result, it's got an elastic waist and pockets.

(BCF has super cheap cute shoes and also super cute cheap lingerie. Their clothes aren't my thing but you have to check out the shoes!)

(which is high for used shoes I know, but it's hard to find vintage shoes in a size 9 and these are super comfy)

PS... I'm now totally obsessed with Cherokee vintage wedges/platforms. They're simply amazing and unfortunately quite hard to find.






White sundress: this simply awesome vintage store I stumbled across today in HB. I cannot reveal the name because I'm going to be looting that place quite often now. This was a mere $12 which is super cheap for such a cute 70s vintage dress that would probably sell for quite a bit more on Ebay or on 4th St. in Long Beach.

Necklace: My sis got me this as a bridesmaids gift. Isn't it pretty? No two are exactly alike. It's from Fused Glass House.




vintage gray dress: American Vintage, Huntington Beach. $27. So overpriced but it fits perfectly and will go with ANYTHING, especially tights during the cooler months. I am such a sucker.




I've been pretty anti-American Apparel for quite some time now. Not really because the CEO is a pig but because it's so damn overpriced. All I own from them are some running shorts I got on Ebay a few years ago. I've been eyeing this skirt for probably a year now and I finally just gave in and bought it. $30.




vintage cordouroy short shorts: secret location I cannot name. They had them in a rainbow of colors for a mere $8.50. Quite similar to the cord shorts AA sells for $50. Who's a sucker now?!

Lack of updates can be blamed on getting ready to travel to Seattle for my sister's wedding. I'll be back next week!

Found a dress today to wear for my sister's bachelorette party. Probably going to wear it with the brown t-strap wedges in the post below. I often get cold (and since the party will be in Seattle, it may be chilly even in August) so what would you suggest to throw on top of it in case I get the chills? I have a denim jacket, and cardigans in black, light brown, and white. I really need some more jackets that can be thrown on over things besides just the denim one - which is not very formal. Of course I have a million peacoats/warm coats but not a lot of lightweight things that can go with anything. Any ideas?

And one more outfit I picked up today. There seems to be an abundance of these tiny floral printed tops everywhere these days. I liked these high waisted shorts (even though they're a size too big for me) because they're not crazy short and I can wear them to work until it starts to get too cold.

I haven't felt like updating lately.

I got my hair cut and colored today in anticipation of my sister's wedding in 2 weeks. Last time I had it colored was April so it really needed some help. I had the highlights touched up and more red added. Love it. The cut was no different, just a trim and re-shape of the layers. I like it, I'm a little bored with my hair style over all, but I don't want to do anything drastic before the wedding. I usually wear my bangs completely across my forehead (I have a really long oval face and I think it kind of helps break it down a bit) but since it's really hot, the last thing I want on my face is hot sweaty hair. I've been wearing my bangs pulled to the side or pulled completely back in a tiny pomp. Please excuse the cat hairs on my dress, I just had some kitty affection.

Yay, my new desk & file cabinet are finally in at Walmart. I still feel ick for buying from there but since I cannot even come close to owning something from Room Service etc., good ol' Walmart has to do for now. The boyfriend is coming over tonight and we're going to pick up the furniture (hope it all fits into the Prius, good thing for hatchbacks!) and put it together. I'll post pictures when it's done. I also need to start doing "what I wore today" pictures, so I'll try to remember today.

In other news, I did win those 4 vintage go go prints. I didn't win the leopard skirt - it went for an insane $56. It's okay though, all I really wanted were those prints anyway! :)
