back from the dead

I'm back :) I'm finally feeling inspired to start this blog back up again. My tastes have changed a lot in the past 3 months so there will be less vintage featured. I may just turn this into a place where I can show off recent purchases and what I wore, etc. Anyway, I still have an obsession with vintage wedges. Delia's had these Cherokee imitations for a few months and they just went on sale for 50% off so I had to snag them. Check them out:

Because of some rather shitty circumstances in my personal life, I'm taking a break.Believe it or not, fashion is the last thing on my mind at the moment (I haven't even looked at f21.com in almost a week and I don't have the heart to Ebay) To those of you who have me linked: I won't be offended if you remove links. The lack of updates here can be attributed to being a full time student/part time worker. I've been really busy with school work and keeping up with the presidential election so this blog has definitely been put on hiatus. Anyway, a short little update because it's Friday and I feel like it:

What I've been on the hunt for lately: comfortable yet cute flats for all the walking I do on campus. It's going to be getting cooler and sandals can't cut it. I'm a little obsessed with the big bow flats out right now, especially the ones by Lela Rose for Payless.

I picked up this v-neck in gray and purple from Forever 21 last weekend. They're super soft and only $8.80 each. They're actually in the loungewear section, which probably explains why they still had a lot left. They have them online here in gray, white, aqua, and purple. I got a medium and they're perfect.




Another fabulous find from Forever 21, the "summer scarf" for a mere $5.50. You can get it online in a rainbow colors here.

Latest Ebay purchases:




Little sailor dress, $15 on Ebay. It's a bit short so I'm off to Joanne's today to buy some white trim to sew on the bottom to make it longer.




High waisted sail boat skirt, $12, Ebay. I don't know why I'm obsessed with nautical stuff but I am. I shortened it a bit because it was too long. Pictures eventually.




70s space dyed wrap sweater, $43 (yeah I know...), Ebay. I've wanted one of these for a few years and finally got one. They're in very high demand on Ebay. Can't wear it yet because it's still in the 80s here but it's going to go nicely with boots.



Woven leather purse, $15, Ebay. I love this and have been using it everyday. It's in perfect condition for a vintage purse.

back to school blues

I'm back to school (I graduate next year, finally!) and have been too busy to do any shopping in person. That's okay though, because I prefer shopping online. I need a new wallet and some cute earrings, so I turned to ModCloth, one of my favorite sites for unique accessories. Here's what I ordered:

I've been really frustrated with Ebay lately. I've had a non-paying bidder (remind me to never accept zero feedbacks again) and getting my selling fees refunded is taking days and days. I also bought a cute woven leather purse and received it and found the strap completely broken. The seller won't answer my messages asking for a refund so now I've had to file a claim with Paypal. Annnnnd I bought a cute pair of 80s teal heels 2 weeks ago and haven't received them. I messaged the seller and she told me she "forgot" to mail them! Not a good week with Ebay.

Anyway, I've been exploring Etsy a bit more. I bought a necklace from there last year but haven't bought anything since. Lately I've been searching for vintage clothes/shoes. The prices are higher than Ebay, but they are fixed, buy it now prices. There are no bidding wars or waiting 7 days to win. I kind of like that. It's also easier to find what I'm looking for. I just got these comfy cute vintage wedges:

Perfect for walking around school. I do a lot of walking on campus (probably close to 2 miles a day) and want to be comfortable but I hate tennis shoes.

Not vintage related but I had to share. I am a big fan of cheapie shoe websites like GoJane and CutesyGirl. They have great prices on cute shoes and occasionally good accessories (the clothes are too clubby for me though). Anyway, I found a site called AMI Clubwear that is like GoJane but 1000000x bigger. They have a million shoes, accessories, Halloween costumes, and clothes. Try to ignore all of the tranny shoes and stripper outfits and take a look. I found these gladiator sandals on sale that look interesting. After looking through most of the stuff, I only like some of the shoes and accessories. The clothes are too clubby, hence the name of the site. But worth a look.

I justify my Ebay/online shopping addiction by reminding myself that I don't go shopping in person hardly ever. I can find unique pieces on Ebay no one else will have and great deals at online shops like Go Jane. I don't know if I actually save any money this way versus shopping at the mall, but I don't make as many impulse buys when I shop online. Anyway, here are my latest finds/purchases.

I ordered those fake Minnetonka boots in my previous post. They're pretty cute. Cheap, but cute. I don't think they're real suede, it doesn't feel thick enough. But they look cute with skirts and jeans. Gotta love GoJane!

Gojane.com has fake Minnetonka boots for $27. The fringe doesn't seem to lay flat like it should but I suppose that can be overlooked since these boots are way cheaper than the originals. If you're like me and want some but don't want to shell out close to $80, check these out. I promise they'll be sold out by the end of the week. I'm back!

I'm back from my mini-hiatus to Seattle for my sister's wedding. Lately I've spent quite a bit of time on other blogspot fashion blogs getting inspired and I've decided that my blog here will basically just be me sharing my new treasures, no fashion advice, nothing like that. I'm just not cut out for that and with being a full time student, I'd really rather not write extensively in my free time. I'd rather show off my vintage finds and hear what others think. Now that that's out of the way, onto new purchases and a little wedding fashion.

First off, wedding fashion. My older sister Alexa got married to her boyfriend of 5 years. It was a wonderful 5 days in Seattle (Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island to be exact). Seattle is gorgeous, eco-conscious, has great food, friendly people, decent drivers, and cool little neighborhoods all over. Not to mention Red Light Vintage. Everytime I visit my sis, I make sure I hit either the U-District or Capitol Hill location. Anyway, I was my sister's maid-of-honor and while I'm sure she wouldn't have gone for vintage bridesmaid dresses, she did nicely allow me to select my own dress style (and everyone else's too, ha!).

Some more Seattle fashion... I wasn't able to make much effort with anything though. I was so incredibly busy rushing around helping out with wedding things that I barely got a chance to sit down.

My sis and I. This skirt was originally to mid-calf. I got it at the St. Vincent De Paul thrift store in Orange for $2. I figured it if I hemmed it up high enough, it might kind of look like an American Apparel skirt. I like the result, it's got an elastic waist and pockets.

White sundress: this simply awesome vintage store I stumbled across today in HB. I cannot reveal the name because I'm going to be looting that place quite often now. This was a mere $12 which is super cheap for such a cute 70s vintage dress that would probably sell for quite a bit more on Ebay or on 4th St. in Long Beach.

Necklace: My sis got me this as a bridesmaids gift. Isn't it pretty? No two are exactly alike. It's from Fused Glass House.




vintage gray dress: American Vintage, Huntington Beach. $27. So overpriced but it fits perfectly and will go with ANYTHING, especially tights during the cooler months. I am such a sucker.




I've been pretty anti-American Apparel for quite some time now. Not really because the CEO is a pig but because it's so damn overpriced. All I own from them are some running shorts I got on Ebay a few years ago. I've been eyeing this skirt for probably a year now and I finally just gave in and bought it. $30.




vintage cordouroy short shorts: secret location I cannot name. They had them in a rainbow of colors for a mere $8.50. Quite similar to the cord shorts AA sells for $50. Who's a sucker now?!

Lack of updates can be blamed on getting ready to travel to Seattle for my sister's wedding. I'll be back next week!

Found a dress today to wear for my sister's bachelorette party. Probably going to wear it with the brown t-strap wedges in the post below. I often get cold (and since the party will be in Seattle, it may be chilly even in August) so what would you suggest to throw on top of it in case I get the chills? I have a denim jacket, and cardigans in black, light brown, and white. I really need some more jackets that can be thrown on over things besides just the denim one - which is not very formal. Of course I have a million peacoats/warm coats but not a lot of lightweight things that can go with anything. Any ideas?
